Polyimide Tapes We Supply

The adhesive system matters as much as the polyimide backing. A tape intended for temporary solder masking does not have the same selection priorities as one used for permanent insulation or double-sided bonding. We therefore supply several constructions rather than presenting one grade as suitable for every process.

J-630 Silicone Polyimide Tape

J-630 is the main starting point for PCB masking, gold finger protection and temporary protection during short high-temperature cycles. The silicone adhesive offers the heat resistance required by these processes, but clean removal still depends on the substrate, temperature, dwell time and how soon the tape is removed after heating.

J-610 Acrylic Polyimide Tape

J-610 is intended for applications that call for an acrylic adhesive, including selected electrical insulation and electronics assembly uses. Its published temperature rating differs from the silicone grades, so it should not be treated as a direct substitute for J-630 in a high-temperature masking process.

J-630A ESD Polyimide Tape

J-630A is designed for processes in which static control is part of the tape specification. It may be considered for handling or masking around static-sensitive electronic assemblies. The required resistance range, measurement method and actual process conditions should be stated before selection; an ESD label alone does not establish suitability for every protected device.

J-630B Matte Black Polyimide Tape

J-630B combines a matte black appearance with a polyimide backing and silicone adhesive. It is intended for low-reflection masking, visual identification and applications where an amber tape is not preferred. Opacity, gloss and appearance requirements should be confirmed if they are critical to the finished assembly.

J-630C Double-Sided Polyimide Tape

J-630C provides a thin polyimide carrier with adhesive on both sides for heat-resistant bonding and component assembly. Selection should consider the two bonding surfaces, load, temperature exposure and whether the joint is temporary or permanent.

Inside Our Polyimide Tape Factory

Our polyimide tape factory is located in Jiaxing, China. The 8,200 m² facility supports industrial tape production and roll converting for domestic and export orders. Production requirements are reviewed by product construction, roll dimensions, quantity, packaging and any documentation specified by the buyer.

Orders move through the applicable production and converting stages, followed by slitting, rewinding, dimensional checks, roll inspection and packing. This allows us to supply standard rolls as well as custom-width polyimide tape for production lines, distributors and OEM projects.

Roll Sizes That Fit Your Production

Standard catalogue dimensions are not always the best fit for a production line. Risure can prepare custom slit widths, roll lengths and core options according to the selected tape construction and order quantity. Rewinding, carton marking and export packaging can also be confirmed during quotation.

For an accurate offer, provide:

· Product grade or required adhesive type

· Tape width and roll length

· Core size, if controlled

· Number of rolls or total area

· Individual wrapping and carton requirements

· Private-label or carton marking requirements, where applicable

Our customization is focused on roll production and converting for industrial orders.

A Practical Starting Point

The table below is intended to shorten the first selection step. Final approval should be based on testing with the actual surface and process.

Your requirement

Suggested starting grade

Confirm before ordering

PCB or gold finger masking

J-630 silicone

Peak temperature, dwell time, substrate and removal condition

Process requiring an acrylic adhesive

J-610 acrylic

Operating temperature, surface and bonding requirement

Static-sensitive electronics

J-630A ESD

Resistance range, test method and handling process

Matte black masking or identification

J-630B

Colour, gloss, opacity and temperature

Heat-resistant double-sided bonding

J-630C

Both surfaces, load, temperature and bonding time

If more than one grade appears possible, start with the process limits rather than the tape colour or headline temperature. The adhesive system, actual time at temperature and required removal behaviour usually eliminate unsuitable options quickly.

Where These Tapes Are Used

PCB Masking and Electronics Assembly

Polyimide tape is widely used to protect gold fingers, contacts, connectors and selected board areas during soldering and other heated operations. For temporary masking, peak temperature alone is not enough to predict performance. The heating profile, surface contamination, tape tension, edge contact and removal timing can all affect lifting or adhesive transfer. Our PCB and electronics masking solutions provide a broader view of tape selection for these processes.

Electrical Insulation

The thin polyimide backing makes these tapes useful where electrical insulation and limited build-up are important. Typical evaluation areas include coil wrapping, transformer components, lead protection and separation between conductive parts. The specified dielectric requirement, operating temperature and any varnish or chemical exposure should be checked together. See our electrical insulation solutions and motor winding insulation tape guide for related selection factors.

Static-Sensitive Electronics

An ESD polyimide tape may be required when the tape itself forms part of a controlled handling or masking process. The correct choice depends on the customer’s ESD control plan, resistance requirement, unwind conditions and removal method. Sample evaluation should reproduce the real workstation and handling sequence rather than checking only room-temperature adhesion.

High-Temperature Industrial Masking

Some polyimide constructions can also be evaluated for powder coating and other heated surface-treatment processes. Oven setpoint, metal temperature, exposure time, coating chemistry and removal timing all matter. For applications near the limit of a grade, a production-representative trial is more reliable than selecting solely from a maximum-temperature statement. Our powder coating masking tape guide explains the main selection variables.

What We Check Before Shipment

Inspection requirements depend on the product and purchase specification. Common checks include product construction, total thickness, roll width, roll length, winding and visual condition. Adhesion, dielectric performance, temperature rating and surface resistance should be referenced to the applicable product specification or agreed test method rather than assumed across the whole range.

Available documentation may include:

· Product-specific Technical Data Sheet

· Applicable SGS test reports

· Material or compliance declarations, where available

· Packing and product identification documents

· Additional order documents agreed before production

SGS RoHS and halogen test reports are available for J-630. These reports apply to the identified product in the relevant document and should not be presented as certification of every polyimide tape construction.

What to Send Us for a Sample or Quote

A width and quantity are enough for a basic price, but not always enough to recommend the right tape. For a useful sample evaluation, tell us:

· The application and substrate material

· Whether the tape is removed or left in place

· Peak and continuous temperature

· Heating duration or number of process cycles

· Required width, roll length and core size

· Expected order quantity

· Required technical or compliance documents

For temporary masking, the surface, temperature profile and removal timing are especially important when assessing adhesion and residue risk. For permanent bonding, identify both surfaces and any load, chemical or environmental exposure.

Polyimide Tape Guides and Troubleshooting

Buyers who are still comparing materials can review our industrial tape buying guides. If the current process is experiencing residue, edge lift, weak adhesion or difficult removal, start with the tape failure analysis and troubleshooting centre.

These resources are intended to help define the test conditions before a sample is approved. They do not replace validation on the buyer’s actual substrate and equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you a polyimide tape manufacturer in China?

Yes. Jiaxing Risure New Material operates an industrial tape manufacturing and converting facility in Jiaxing, China. We supply multiple polyimide tape constructions and provide custom-width slitting, rewinding, roll inspection and export packing for production orders.

Can you supply custom-width polyimide tape rolls?

Yes. Send the product grade, width, roll length, core size and order quantity. Feasible dimensions and commercial terms depend on the construction and volume, so they are confirmed during quotation rather than assumed from a general range.

Should I choose silicone or acrylic adhesive?

Silicone adhesive is normally the first choice for temporary masking at higher process temperatures. Acrylic adhesive may be preferred where an acrylic system is specified or silicone must be avoided, but its temperature capability is different. The decision should be based on the process rather than adhesive name alone.

Will polyimide tape remove without residue?

No responsible supplier can answer that from the tape name alone. Residue is influenced by the substrate, contamination, temperature, dwell time, pressure, ageing and removal timing. A sample should be tested through the complete production cycle, including removal after the expected cooling period.

Can I test a sample before a bulk order?

Yes. A sample is recommended for new substrates, high-temperature masking and applications with strict removal or appearance requirements. Provide the intended process conditions so that the sample grade and roll size are relevant to the trial.

What technical and compliance documents are available?

Technical data sheets are available for the relevant product grades. Additional test reports or declarations depend on the selected construction. If a particular standard, restricted-substance document or branded polyimide film is mandatory, state it before quotation so availability can be checked against the exact product.
